Information We Collect
Generally, you control the amount and type of information you provide to us when using our website and Products. If you register to use our Products, you must provide certain Personal Information in order for us to provide you with various features and/or functionality of our Products. We collect your Personal Information in the following ways:
When you register to use our Products, we collect your first and last name, email address, physical address, phone number, biological sex at birth, and your personal photograph (optional).
When Buying or Using Our Products and Services
If you buy Products from us, we may collect your name, email address, physical address, credit card information, phone number, Genetic Information, and your GPS location.
When Submitting Self-Reported Information
We may collect Self-Reported Information such as your ethnicity, family history, physical features, survey data and activity tracker data (if consent provided) while using our Products.
As you interact with our website or Products, we may use automatic data collection technologies to collect certain information about your equipment, browsing actions and usage patterns. This data may include details like these:
- Details of your visits to our website or Products, which could include:
- the resources that you access and use on the Products;
- the external sites that referred you to our website; and
- the external sites that you visited just after visiting our website.
- Information about your computer or device and internet connection, which could include:
- your IP address or other device ID;
- your operating system; and
- your browser or device type.
The information we collect helps us to improve our website and Products. It also helps us to deliver better and more personalized features to you, including by enabling us to recognize you when you return to our website or Products, store information about your preferences and customize our Products according to your individual interests, administer a survey or other feature of our Products, provide targeted advertising, estimate our audience size and usage patterns, and monitor the success of our marketing activities.

We may also use a technology called web beacons to collect Product Behavior Information about your use of our website, your use of special promotions, or newsletters. The information we collect by web beacons allows us to statistically monitor the number of people who open our emails. Web beacons also help us understand the behavior of our customers and visitors. Our web beacons are not used to track your activity outside our website.
Monitoring Our Website and Products
You acknowledge and accept that MyVytalics personnel can and may monitor the systems that provide Products to ensure Products perform as expected and may keep copies of such monitoring.
How Your Information is Used
To provide and improve our Products. We primarily use your information to present and provide you our Products and its contents to you. This includes the following:
- providing you appropriate search results and personalized content;
- processing your purchases;
- verifying your identity;
- recognizing you when you return to our Products;
- providing you notices about your account;
- notifying you about updates or changes to our Products or any services we offer or provide through it; and
- providing you with information or services that you otherwise request from us.
To improve our Products or to develop new products and services, we may use your information as follows:
- to track your usage of our Products;
- administer a survey;
- perform quality control and quality improvement activities;
- conduct data analysis about our audience size and usage trends;
- conduct marketing campaigns and targeted online advertising (which may include third party advertisements subject to your browser cookie settings); and
- monitor the success of our marketing activities.
Recruitment for research. We do not share your Genetic Information or Self-Reported Information with third parties without your express consent. However, we may inform you of third party research opportunities that you may be eligible for based on your Genetic Information or Self-Reported Information. We may also invite you to participate in future MyVytalics research studies. All research opportunities will be completely voluntary, and we will ask for your consent before we use or share your information for any MyVytalics research or third-party research. All research, whether through MyVytalics or other third parties, will be subject to review and approval by a qualified Institutional Review Board (IRB). Whether you take part in any research efforts will not impact your experience with any Products you have purchased.
In the following two subsections, we describe how we use your Genetic Information and Self-Reported Information in particular:
Genetic Information. The first time you choose to purchase a Product on the Helix Platform, Helix generates and stores your Genetic Information from the sample you provide. For each Product you purchase, you consent to allow Helix to share the portion(s) of your Genetic Information needed for MyVytalics to provide you the Product. Your Genetic Information will be shared with MyVytalics to allow MyVytalics to perform the Product’s genetic interpretation and assessment. Your Genetic information may be additionally used for Product improvement purposes. MyVytalics and not Helix is responsible for maintaining the privacy and confidentiality of any Genetic Information you authorize Helix to share with the MyVytalics.
Your Genetic Information may be combined with that of other users as “Pooled Genetic Information.” Pooled Genetic Information does not include any data that would reasonably permit someone to identify you individually. MyVytalics may use Pooled Genetic Information for its internal business purposes, such as to improve our Products, data quality and laboratory processes. Pooled Genetic Information may also be used for our marketing purposes. This could include describing users of our Products in general terms (e.g., “50% of our users are female” or “more than 60% of our users are slow caffeine metabolizers”).
Self-Reported Information. Genetics is not deterministic. Many traits are also influenced by non-genetic factors, as discussed in our Terms of Service. Your Self-Reported Information may be used to improve interpretations of your genome.
We may use the information we receive from you as follows:
- Analyze your Genetic Information
- Provide our Products and services
- Inform you about the analysis of your Genetic Information
- Invite you to research projects and surveys to be used for Product improvement purposes.
- Personalize and customize content for you
- Make improvements to our website and Products
- Contact you with updates about our Products and website
- Verify your use of our Products
- Contact you with marketing and promotions that may be of interest to you
- Conducting Product research and development
Sharing Your Genetic Information With MyVytalics
When your results are available, you will be notified by the email address you provided when you registered on the Helix website, or if you have already registered with MyVytalics, you will be notified via the email address you have on record with www.MyVytalics.com. At that point, you may view your results through your account at www.MyVytalics.com. Please note that in some cases, inconclusive data may occasionally require additional testing and might delay posting of results until such time when conclusive data can be provided. Providing your Personal Information is voluntary and based only on the permission you give.
Sharing Your Information With Third Parties
We may provide your Personal Information (excluding Genetic Information) to third parties who provide services with regards to our website and Products such as payment processors, shipping companies, and other service providers only to the extent necessary to provide such services.
Google Analytics Terms of Service
You can prevent Google Analytics from recognizing you on return visits to this site by disabling cookies on your browser.
Legally required releases of information
We may be legally required to disclose your Personal Information including your Genetic Information if such disclosure is (a) required by subpoena, law, or other legal process; (b) necessary to assist law enforcement officials or government enforcement agencies; (c) necessary to investigate violations of or otherwise enforce our Terms of Service; (d) necessary to protect us from legal action or claims from third parties, including you and/or other members; (e) necessary to protect the legal rights, personal/real property, or personal safety of our company, users, employees, and affiliates. If we are required to disclose your information, we will do our best to provide you with notice in advance, unless we are prohibited by law from doing so.
Community discussion boards and your personal information
We cannot disclose individual Genetic and/or Self-Reported Information to third parties without your consent unless required by law. However, you acknowledge that MyVytalics cannot control the distribution of Genetic and/or Self-Reported Information shared publicly through MyVytalics Products. If you share any such information, you may cease to have control over the further dissemination of the information.
Disclosures to successors
We limit access to your information to employees who we believe need access to it to make Products available or to do their jobs. In addition, we put in place industry standard physical, technical, and procedural safeguards designed to secure your personal information from accidental loss and from unauthorized access, use, alteration and disclosure.
The transmission of information via the internet cannot be guaranteed to be 100% secure. We continue to evaluate and identify improved security techniques to protect your personal information. However, we cannot guarantee that your information will not be accessed, altered or lost through a breach of any of our physical and electronic safeguards.
Our Products are not intended for anyone under 18 years of age. No one under age 18 may provide any personal information via our website or Products. We do not knowingly collect personal information from someone under 18. If you are under 18, do not register on our website or provide any information about yourself to us. If we learn we have collected or received personal information from someone under 18, we will delete that information. If you believe we might have any information from or about someone under 18, please contact us at email@example.com.

Choices You Have on How Your Information is Shared
We strive to provide you with choices about the information you provide to us. We have created mechanisms to give you the following controls over your information:
Promotional Offers from MyVytalics. If you do not wish to have your contact information used by MyVytalics to promote our Products, you can opt-out by changing your account settings. You may not be able to opt out of receiving certain Product-related emails, such as communications about orders, billing, account creation, registration and policy updates. If we have sent you a promotional email or other informational email not related to your account, the email will have an “unsubscribe” feature that will allow you to opt-out of receiving future email distributions.
Sharing Genetic Information. It is your choice to decide whether and with whom to share your Genetic Information. We will not provide your Genetic Information to anyone without your express written consent. It is important to make such choices with care after reviewing the relevant privacy policies of who your Genetic Information may be shared with.
Accessing, Correcting, or Deleting Your Personal Information
You may contact MyVytalics at firstname.lastname@example.org to request access to, correct, or delete any Personal Information that you have provided to us. We may not accommodate a request to change information if we believe the change would violate any law or legal requirement or cause the information to be incorrect. Information that has already been de-identified and/or aggregated may not be retrievable or traced back for correction or removal from any database.
You may also terminate your MyVytalics Account through your account settings. If you terminate your MyVytalics Account, we will remove your registration information and user profile from our database. In addition, we will remove your Genetic Information from your account, and you will no longer have access through the website or Products to your Genetic Information. Genetic Information and Self-Reported Information for which you have given consent to use in any product development research studies cannot be withdrawn or removed from ongoing or completed studies that use your information. Please be aware that we cannot reverse the removal of your Genetic Information from your account. After removal of your Genetic Information, you will not be able to use any Products from MyVytalics without creating a new account.
After you terminate your MyVytalics Account, we retain some Account Information in your account related to your purchase history. This is necessary for accounting, audit and compliance purposes. We may also retain backup copies and archival files of your information to satisfy our state and federal legal obligations or regulatory requirements. However, we will not share your information with any third party other than those mandated by law, except for information that has already been shared with your consent.
